~~~Ch..Chi...Chilly Weather...~~~
~Has been doing a lot of this recently... Cold, foggy, rainy, Windy, damp...
So I've been doing a bit of this...
The trusty Crock -pot came out as well... Got a nice pot roast with potatoes, onion, garlic, mushrooms, chives, plenty of black pepper (of course!), simmering away...
Already starting to smell tasty !!
There are rolls waiting in the freezer... As well as a Pumpkin Pie AND a tub of whipped topping... Doesn't get too much better than this... Autumn is a savory, tasty time of the year...
The kitthehs are doing fine... Although, they are clingy to the nth degree. As I am their favorite warm snuggly. Expected to sit still for hours, cuddling them, and petting every one at the exact same time... Who was that Hindu Goddess with the multitude of arms ?
~~~Harvest Home~~~

Here at the old Tilting Homestead Fall is arriving... Now this is the time of the Year I truly relish...
Cooler, crisper, Damper (well it is the Soggy N.W.)... The Low slant of the Sun.. And the clear cool air that begs for sockies and shawls wrapped about...
The leaves are falling, the squirrels are zipping to and fro. The Canadian jays and Blue jays are even more raucous than ever... Scolding me when I'm late putting out their nibbles...
Even the mice in the walls are scurrying hither and yon...
Keeps Alice busy, watching the ceiling keeping track of them...

Or- Mayhap There are Wispy Spirits wafting across the crown mouldings...

Either way, I just get giddy... Wanting to make hot cocoa, popping popcorn then sprinkling it with Ranch dressing (the powdered stuff)... Grabbing a Cold Crisp Apple...
Then getting all geared down to watch movies...

My Favorites this Time of Year:
-Practical Magic (swoon)
-Bell, Book, and Candle (sigh)
-The Witches of Eastwick (shiver)
-The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (snort)
-Arsenic and Old Lace (eek)

I've been trying for years to find a copy of Bette Davis' "Dark Secret Of Harvest Home" ( drool), but so far no joy.. There are copies of the chopped version... But I want the full 300 plus minutes of the mini-series version... One of these days... When the Time is right...

Have been doing some decorating.. The book cases in the boudoir', and few nick-knacks here and there...
But the best is out on the Patio... My Friend, HH, across the street and I had a jolly afternoon decking the Harvest Halls...

This lil' Guy is holding onto His Black Kittheh !!

A Spooky Gathering of of Dark Beasties...

My Cauldron slash Pumpkin Tower...

Love Birdcages.. So Got the best of both Spring n Autumn Here...

And A Flag Of Harvest Welcome..
(blowing of course-making it hard to see...
with the Kittheh Windchimes shadow behind..)

These photos were taken by my friend HH... With her brand new Canon camera !!
With only one days practice.. purty good I'd say...
...Gooseflesh for this Darkening time of year ? When the Veil grows Thin ?
Nah !! Just Shivers of Anticipation !!!

:::Fiddler, Was on the Roof:::

This is Fiddler-Who used to live on the Roof- Of the Garage at the end of my driveway....He is a Semi-Feral Boy. Will come when you call him... (I call him Fiddy, Fidelia, Fidderboy)...
But has been known to turn at a moments notice... And Damn Near amputate a finger... or Two...

Last spring He chomped my fingers and hand so badly My Doctor was worried... Thru arduous soaking and expressing of pus.. and high powered antibiotics... all my appendages are intact. Although my ring finger has increased a full ring-size because of scar tissue.

Fiddy doesn't necessarily mean to be hateful... I think he just doesn't have an "If I Bite The Hand That Feeds Me" who will feed me next switch..

So he lives outside... Has my garage with beddy places to sleep in...doesn't venture far. And you can pet him, just not more than 2-3 times and there better be canned dinner coming... And when He is done... Not a look back...

I'm still working with him... not given' up yet...
We just both know where our boundaries are.... Him gets dinnies... And I keep My fingers !

---Osgood Snozgood ---

Osgood, Snozgood, Ozgoodnia... All names I call this pale creamsicle Boy...

I first noticed him about this time 3 years ago. I would have the patio door open and out of the corner of my eye there would be this Fleeting wraith, sliding away from the bowl filled with dog food for the Coons and Possums... You would hear crunching, but as you turned your head, It was Gone... Not Really sure what was Glimpsed at all...

After a few weeks of this I began putting a lil' bowl of kittheh food nearer the open door. I would perch in the small alcove and wait until He would materialise... Thin, Gaunt, Uncombed, Terrified. Tattered ears and barely audible raspy voice. Every bone showing thru grubby fur. Over the days he worked his way closer to the food. He would try and eat but the crunchies would fall out of his mouth or he would gag... So He would just scarf them whole. As my voice wheedled and soothed and made promises, he finally ate at the doorway. I used an old comb to ruffle his fur. Just a breath of touch.

This went on for a week or so. He would eat, and just barely contain himself and allow the touch. He grew Bolder... And so did I...

Finally one day My mind set, I picked him up... Much Growling and Snarling and Hissing ensued. Glaring straight into my eyes with Fear and Terror and Uncertainty. Holding him to me I petted and smoothed and kept promising.

I guess he believed me. He has been an Indoor Kittheh for almost two years now... Sleeps where he wants.. When He wants... Right now its not on His blankie folded on top of the bookcase... Or the pillow in the bedroom. Or in the Kittheh Cottage... Its in an enamel food crisper drawer, with a wadded up shopping bag, sitting on the dining room table... Sigh...

He has all the squishy canned food he wants. Loves temptashuns (even tho they are crunchy)... Actually he hasn't really met any food he doesn't like...He was hungry for So Long, He has to eat... At least Sample what is offered.

Somewhere-Sometime he was someones lap baby. He wears a flea collar like He is "A Big Boy Now". Loves to be brushed and combed and fiddled with. His claws trimmed with a minium of fuss...Doesn't care for his monthly baths tho- I've got the shred marks to prove it.

And the reason the crunchy food would fall out of his mouth ?

His poor mouth is almost toothless... He had lived a Hard Mean Cold Loveless Life in there somewhere...

But now His name is Osgood... And He is a Very Good Boy...

Not just sure what He Is Good For Yet...

Maybe just Being a Second Chance...

Him Is A Very Good Boy... At Sleeping !

:::Kuchi is a Coochie:::

Kuchi... Third sister to Babylon and Alice...When she was just a lil' ball of fluffy soft, her Eyes were SO Blue !!!

I remember Years ago there was a beautiful child on the cover of "National Geographic". She had a veil or dupatta or scarf around her face and shoulders... This girls eyes were Mesmerizing... the Blue of deep waters, so enduring you could Fall into them and be made pure... Glittering and Gleaming..... I read that the Girl was from a Nomadic Tribe in Northern Afghanistan. Wandering across the land, always waking to a new Horizon. She was of the Kuchi Tribe...

So thats where this baby pooter got her name. Her eyes have matured into a deep shade of khaki green... Sloe eyed and just a bit of a skeptic is my Kuchi... She loves milkies.. especially out of my over-sized mug (yes it has a really wide mouth, They cant get their lil' heads stuck when drinking after Momma can they ?)...

She will lay across your arm and get her furs smoothed and whiskers tested. She likes to wash your fingers after you have thoroughly groomed her and "picked fleas" to her satisfaction. She will growl like a she-wolf if she doesn't want kissys.

Spoiled ? Oh Yes Ma'am !! To a certain stinky degree if I might say so... She Might answer to Houte', Koochay, Mommas lil hoochychoochie...

Or give you Her Thousand Mile Stare... She is watching something different and maybe faraway there are voices and sounds you can't hear... Smells and colors of a Distant place. I have to go answer the door, so please excuse me... Her most Gracious Majesty is ringing the bells hanging off the doorknob... And Must be let in Immediately !!!

...Pudgey 'Lil Alice...

This is Alice...
Demanding B-B-Q pork...
A Girls gets peckish, you know...
Alice From the Palace...
Remember that Old movie with Danny Kaye.."The Court Jester" ?
That is Alices song...Or a variation thereof...
Alice from the Palace,
Has a Fuzzy 'lil chalice,
Her is Snalice ...
As you might be able to tell from her pictures, she is a Fluffy Diva in a fur coat. The world is her oyster..Or can of tuna juice mebbee... She has round grass green eyes and stubby legs...And sometimes is gravitationally challenged... There are seventy-eleven places to nap in this house, but its on Momma...Or perched precariously on top of the tv... Her favor-ite place is down the front of Mommas bosoms when we are on the computer...
She also gets to Purring so fast and furious that she "trills" or "churps"... And oh the drool...

She does like to sit in the odd box every now and then...

Her is Full sister to Babylon and Kuchi...Her is a Diva and demanding and her loves mayonnaise and Lays potato chips (until they get soggy) and any thing you are drinking, she has to sample.
She too is meen to her Momma... And is a rotten 'lil Pooper...

:::Babylon...Babble On:::

This is Babylon... also known as Boop, Boopers... Loobydoop.. Boopalonyia BunnyGirl and COME HERE YOU MEEN LITTLE POOPER... (thats Kuchi on the left...Inna box!)

Her name came from the song- Babylon by David Gray- As a wee ball of floof her vocal capicity ranged up there with Maria Callas. First to howl(Babble On), explore, get into awkard dangly prediciments in the Clematis. Sassy and Brave and Kind and doesn't mind Momma giving Her Kissys and prefers to sleep under the covers ThankYouVeryMuch !!

She is one of my Darlins'.

One of four sisters given to me when they were 2-3 weeks old. Eyes barely open. Born June the 4th of 2003. Their mama was killed so I got to play wet nurse. Little dinky bottles n kitten formula n wiping for pps and poopies... and baths in the kitchen sink when things got too goobery.

She was the biggest and most vocal and independent. If She was ready to eat, then everybody else was woken up to dine as well... She is the only "Cow" kittheh as well. The other three all looked Tabby as little babies.

One Sister, Fiona, was drowned in the rain barrel by the corner of the house when she was about four months old. I hadn't been able to get them inside that night and they were into everything and well.... I guess shit happens sometimes... Broke my heart, and oh the guilt... Still haunts me....

But these other three are grown up and Rotten... All Spade and Spoiled and Rule this Roost... I keep Babby in the house and the other two girls, Alice and Kuchi are mostly in. Or right out on the back porch. They never go out of sight...

And They also have the option on clambering up their ladder up onto the Patio roof and come in upstairs thru a window (Who is a Hillbilly ?). A quick thudthudthud downstairs... And a jingle of bells hung there on the doorknob, and Momma lets them in. Yes, I know... Rotten..

Osgood also calls this home... Another Lost But Now I'm Found story.. "HeisaGoodBoy... GoodForWhatIDunno"... At least thats what I tell Him...
And I mustn't leave Fiddler out. He is an outdoor Boy and tormentor of us all..

So First introduction made of Our Cozy Furfamily.. And my Infamy chronicled as a Crazy Cat Lady begins...

..Silly Things We Do...

Cinco de Mayo' is fast approaching and it still feels like it could snow !

I am huddled here with a fleece throw around my knees and another across my shoulders.... and Its almost May---

Biggo Whoop... too cold to go get flowers to plant, too wet to toddle out to hack up the blackberry vine attempting to commander the wheelie bin. (No, I don't know what for. Something nefarious, I suppose.)

I've got ham and green beans burbbling away in the slow cooker, and it is beginning to smell tasty. I added a few halved potatoes and a couple ears of corn awhile ago. When it all gets done- Dinner Is Served !

Well actually dinner for tomorrow. My method of madness is : never do in daylight what can be done at some ungodly hour of the night.

Story of my Life...

Better to shop at the local 24 hour MeggaMart when all you will see are other Vampires. Creatures of the night. I am not a 9-5 person.

9pm to 5am ...Oh Yes ! I can do that just dandy... A Bit difficult to get ordinary business conducted, but hey, I enjoy being of a different stripe. Being a odd duck... Kwakk Kwakk...

Never would I want to be called ordinary. It takes Time, Effort, and Forethought to create who I am. I've had various and sundry do their best to hone me down, polish off my crunchy spots. Have come really close too. There was a time when I tried to get enthralled with sweater twin sets and dainty little pearl studs. Just be unnoticed and beige.

Worst 15 minutes of my Life-
hehe..

But now I seem to be what was meant to be.. just an Aging Wyld Chylde. An old Fat Goth Chick (hen maybe?)... wearing lipstick so red as to be the sirens call. Black Lace whenever not approiate. Beads and Bangles ... Sparkly earrings, honest talk, too many cats (but now honestly... can you have too many ? They entertain, provide company, help you type, and understand you to the Nth degree) And other things unseemly...

Ah Well... Makes me feel good...

...one thing leads to another...

So tomorrow it is supposed to be doing this... Again...

But for the last three days it has been doing a Lot of this...

And quite a bit of this.... It was 81 sunny degrees here in the great PNW. Warmest day on record for the date...
But part of me, even as I am enjoying the sun, dreads the heat of summer.
If it would only stay about 78 with a sweet breeze...
Warm enough to drink sweet tea, but no so hot you dread going to town.
Warm enough to make macaroni and potato salads, but not so hot it is sticky to sleep at night...

Time to get the fans out and dusted off...

(can you tell that I figgered out how to get free images ? hehe... blogs look nekkid to me without pictures...)
